the uniberry...not sure this makes the carton worth 8 bucks US, but it is pretty cool ;-)
today started off with us reaching out to touch family and friends in texas. i'm telling ya, it's very strange for this phone-phobe to enjoy talking on any sort of electronic device, but i am loving it. after catching up with dear friends, we got to talk to baba and the fur babies today. that was a real treat! we thoroughly enjoyed getting to see baba's happy face, and we were thrilled when he put the camera on the dogs. it was pretty funny to watch their little ears perk up and their heads tilt back and forth in wonder at how our voices were coming from baba's computer. we have been thinking and talking about them all day, and after some play time at the park, we went to a special pet store to get toys for copper and sookie. we had a great time talking with the people in the pet store and meeting the dogs that work there. we are now looking for a fun prize for baba, and then we will send a care package to him and the pups.
after our park time and the trip to the pet store, we headed for lunch at mcd's and to the grocery store. between the size of our fridge here and the issue of hauling the groceries home while pushing quinn's stroller and managing olivia, it's necessary to go to the store each day that we want to eat at home. this takes a little getting used to, but i kinda love it, too. on the way back from the grocery store, we stopped by a fruit stand to get a treat for the kids. i let them pick, and they picked strawberries. it wasn't until i was preparing to pay that i realized i was paying 8 bucks (US) for a small carton of strawberries. ooops. those will be a rare treat from now on. they are imported from korea, so i think that has a lot to do with the price.
this afternoon, we rounded out our day with another trip to the park where both kids made new friends and had a ball. on the way back, we stopped by the chi-chi boutique to admire the guard kitty and decided to go in and see if we could pet him (yes, it turns out to be a boy cat who is forced to sleep on a pink kitty couch!). we had a BALL giving the kitty scratches. his name is pronounced doh-doh. he was super friendly and tolerant of the kiddos, and he even rolled onto his back for belly scratches. this made us miss our baby kitty sooooooooooooo much. today has been a day of fur-baby withdrawl. i am beginning to think that our biggest challenge living here is going to be living pet free. we can talk to our family and friends, tell them we miss them, and hear how they are doing, but we can't really do that with our fur babies. at least we know that they are all very well cared for and loved...they probably won't miss us as much as we miss them because they are being spoiled rotten with lots of love and attention.
I haven't done Skype yet, but I would love to try with you guys!
