HKG013: Addendum III ... Good Samaritan

friday morning started out putzy...kids played happily on my computer for a long time. see how quinn decorated it? (i let him)

and then we got on a bus....here's livie

...and quinn...

when we finally got off the bus and wandered aimlessly for a while, we finally found a circle K where we could get a snack, and behind it was an apartment complex with this playground. check out the view beyond the playground!

we got lost (trapped) in that apartment complex with me trying to figure out how to get out of it and up onto a public sidewalk i could see...along the way, we found another playground...

and it was surrounded by beautiful flowers

more beautiful flowers

after a very long bus ride back to the central area in hong kong, we finally gave up and flagged a taxi to get to the zoo. this is the view on the way up to the zoo, which was at the top of a very steep hill

i could not get any good pics of the animals because the camera on my phone does not focus, so instead, you get pictures of MY animals eating their snack.

here the kids are checking out a fountain in the zoo...we spent no more than 30 seconds here b/c quinn was immediately trying to climb into the fountain.

this afternoon, josh and i both got an email from a stranger explaining that she'd found my phone in a taxi on sing woo road (the road we currently live on). i met up with her tonight to retrieve my phone and in the process, i met a very nice lady... someone i hope to become friends with. we hope to meet up with her and her little girl (quinn's age) this weekend.

anyhoo, i was THRILLED to get my phone back and to retrieve the pics i took on friday. looking at them now, none of them is fantastic. i am mostly just thrilled to have my phone back so that i can continue to document our adventures...and eventually get a new sim card for it so i can use it as a PHONE :-)

  1. that was very nice of her! I'm so glad you're having mostly positive experiences with the locals (and not-so-locals) there.

  2. How awesome that you got your phone back! I hope she's a good indicator of the future people you'll meet there. Great story.
