HKG007: Times Square

today has been a pretty relaxing day with a couple trips to the park to play and a trip to times square for some shopping. we accidentally left the entire folder of the kids movies on our flight from DC to LA, so we headed out to try to replace some of their favorite movies. we took the tram to get to and from causeway bay (where times square is), and it was smooth sailing. the tram is quickly becoming our favorite mode of transportation (and it's the cheapest!).

this afternoon, i got out for a solo grocery shopping trip, and i tell you what, that was a little slice of heaven. it was great to be able to look around and enjoy the sights and sounds without constantly worrying about the kiddos. there is a grocery store chain here called wellcome, and i headed to one of those to see what's available there vs. at the international market. i was pleasantly surprised to see some of my favorite ingredients available, but i was also a tiny bit sad b/c i was looking forward to the challenge of not having my standbys easily available. i cooked us dinner tonight for the first time in this apartment, and i have to say that cooking in our 8-foot long x 4-foot wide kitchen was a challenge...one i will have to get used to b/c the kitchens in the apartments we've looked at aren't much bigger.

tomorrow, we are thinking about heading to the IKEA here just to see what's different and what's the same. we know it will be tiny, which actually makes me happy b/c it's torture for me to get all the way through the IKEA in round rock...i just can't withstand that much retail ;-p

i cannot believe we've been here a week already, and i also cannot believe we've been here ONLY a week...we've packed a lot into these seven days!
