HKG094: First Field Trip

today, livie's class took a field trip to disneyland hong kong; q and i got to tag along. we had a pretty good time. it was very nice to get to the park on a spacious air-conditioned bus rather than on crowded MTR rides. livie's class attended an animation workshop, rode a few rides, and had a quick art session. q and i rode a train halfway around the park, rode the carousel, checked out the safari area, and rode the teacups twice.

q fell asleep on the ride back toward home, which destroyed any chance for a decent nap. grrr. he was up before 6 again this morning, and he really NEEDED that nap. oh well. after stopping for a quick treat at mcdonald's, we headed home to have some quiet time before going to the playground.

we rounded out the day by meeting with a young man who operates a cat sitting business. he will be coming over to take care of the waffle kitty while we are in china next week. it turns out that he's a great resource on taking la fu's vet care to the next level. after 4 full days on his new prescriptions, la fu is still pretty congested. thanks to his kitty mucinex, he is sneezing more, and the sneezes are more productive in that they are riddng him of some junk, but he's not clearing up. he has sneezed blood a couple more times, though the amount wasn't as alarming as what he did on monday. i hate to do it to him, but i am thinking that i really need to get the waffle in for a camera-up-his-nose procedure to find out what's really going on in that cute little schnoz of his.

in other la fu news, i learned last night that la fu is not a fan of josh's away work schedule. the waffle's been with us five weeks now, and i guess we really are his people now because he was not at all happy that one of his people was missing come bed time last night. he paced all over josh's side of the bed meowing at the top of his lungs. i think the translation was something to the effect of "daddy! it's bed time...where are you?!?" somewhat related...i now wake up to find la fu cuddled up against me under the covers or draped over my neck most nights. when i have to get up to use the facilities, la fu scoots himself into my warm spot on the bed. i have to shove his tiny little self over to get enough room to lay down again...and then he scoots closer to me again so he can cuddle up to me. i don't think i have ever known such a cuddly-during-sleep cat. baby kitty liked to be on my lap when i was awake or draped over my legs/feet when i was asleep, but she never tried to get under the covers with me.

i have been in close contact with baby kitty's new mommy, and the reports i am getting about the little smoosh cat are nothing but awesome. her health has stabilized, she's made several friends in her new home including a feral cat and a chihuahua, and she's doing great. i have recently gotten some pictures...it is bittersweet (heavy on the sweet) to see that smooshy little marshmallow face...i miss baby kitty desperately, but i have complete peace and happiness knowing how loved she is and how happy she is.

q is really asleep. livie is faking sleep.

this is a temporary wall around an upcoming attraction, but q didn't care. all he saw was buzz, slinky, and the army guys and he was THRILLED.

sleepy boy waiting for the teacup ride to start.

checkin' out the rhino statue in the safari area...and the dirt surrounding it. q called the rhinos dinosaurs.

super duper tired q on the train ride
