my TODO list is getting smaller, but there's still much to be done. i have made huge progress on packing and purging, but as we are still living here, there will be lots of stuff to do at the last minute. passports are acquired, visa applications are sent, medical and dental records are requested, and some of the house utility stop notices are submitted. these are the BIG things....but there are still plenty of small things to do. one of the things i am looking forward to doing is filling my foodcase...that's the suitcase i will be checking with some of our favorite products in it...you know, those nasty little fruit treats the kids love, the honeynut cheerios i can't live without, boxed mac-n-cheese, spices, diapers, diapers, and more diapers. someday, i will potty train the boy, but you can bet your bottom dollar that it will not be within six months on either side of this move ;-p
we're excited. okay, josh and i are excited. livie vascillates between excited and devastated. quinn is oblivious. copper and sookie are looking at us funny...especially me as i cart off more and more of their house. i know they know something's up, but obviously, they don't know what. my dad will move in here with a roommate or two and take over care of the house and the pets. i know that he will love them and they will love him, but it won't be the same as it is with us, their trained humans. who else knows to let them up on ALL of the furniture, feed them the best tidbits from dinner, sneak them the cat food that the cat won't eat, and let them drag people hither and yon on their "walks." we will miss them terribly...i fully expect to be asking my dad to point the web cam at them so i can skype with them...not that they will get it, but it'll make me feel better.
the part i am blocking right now is friends and family. when i start to think about this part, i get a little (okay, a lot) verclempt. skype is going to be our best friend....that and some weird sleeping schedules since the time difference will mean we are asleep when our friends and family are up and about. maybe that insomnia thing is about to come in handy ;-p we are already looking forward to a visit from my bro and SIL in the summer!
away we goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Wow - so exciting! And, Lamma Island looks perfect. You'd be in China but still have some of the comforts of home - like lots of English-speaking neighbors!

girl, I wouldn't worry about taking so many diapers there. I found the local diapers in karachi to be a LOT better than the case full of diapers I took there. I would only take enough to last you the entire trip, and about a week's worth after that.
